An invasive cardiologist, Dr. MacIntosh is a 1976 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Michigan State University. He completed an internship at Mt. Clemens General Hospital, residency at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital and a fellowship in cardiology at Michigan State University, Ingham Medical Center in Lansing, Michigan.

Dr. MacIntosh is Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He is also licensed as a nuclear cardiologist. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and American College of Osteopathic Internists; and a fellow, American College of Cardiology.

Along with Munson Medical Center, Dr. MacIntosh has privileges with Mercy Health Services North - Grayling.

Dr. MacIntosh was raised in Traverse City, where he currently resides with his wife and children.
